Phew! I had a crazy fun filled week with my mom, but now it’s time to get back to business. I have a few projects planned for this week, but first I would love some help from you fellow bloggers or photo-savvy readers on the topic of cameras.

I have a Sony Cybershot from 2004. It has served me well over the years, however at this point my phone has a higher megapixel camera. I think it’s time for an upgrade. Now I know NOTHING about photography aside from simple point-and-shoot, so I’d love a beginner suggestion for a decent digital that produces blog-worthy photos. Maybe something expandable would be nice, like something where I could buy more lenses if I was inclined to learn, but is still pretty awesome out of the box. Modest pricing is a huge plus!

So what do you use?

    I use a canon T1i it is a simple DSLR that has a great manual and lots of lens versatility.

    HI! I bought a Sony Cybershot in 2004 too! And it was great, but I upgraded to a Canon T31 DSLR. That said, I just bought my mom the upgraded Sony Cybershot, and it’s AWESOME. The pictures are gorgeous and the newer features on the camera make them almost fool-proof, which is nice!

    Happy Birthday by the way!

    I have a Cannon D3 SLR that I’ve had for years and it takes beautiful pic. I recently last year got a small point and shoot for my birthday, I think it’s a Cannon 3100 maybe, when I get home I’ll double check. It’s 10 megapixels and was only $150 on Walmart.com I got a 1GB card too for the same price. All the pic’s you see on my Etsy shop and Blog are with that camera. I use it mainly now, you can use the macro mode for close ups too. Hope that helps!

    Happy Birthday!!!!! I have a Nikon D3100 and LOVE it. It is my first big girl camera and I have had it now for 8 months. It took me a few months to get it off of auto, but I seem to be getting the hang of it now. All of the pictures on my blog from March to present are taken with this camera.     I just bought a gently used canon camera body and a new lens this weekend (had it for about 72 hours so take that for what it’s worth). The camera sales person recommended that I step away from the standard kit lens and get a 50mm prime lens to get close up shots for blogging. The lens makes it easy to get super sharp focus on the details of projects while blurring any distracting background. The neat part about it is that it does it all by itself! I always thought a DSLR was a lot of work like old school SLR cameras with focusing and metering and fstops but this camera produces phenomenal results with LESS work than my old point and shoot.

    I haven’t had a chance to blog yet about my new camera but look for something in the next few days.
