And I wanted one. I had plenty of material too since getting a Keurig machine for coffee making.
I was inspired by this totally gorgeous wreath at Jones Design Company.

I wanted to make mine more all-season friendly, so I decided to leave out the berries and such and use more muted colors. As for the method, I didn’t take any actual pictures during the process because I was sort of making it up (shocker, no?). I chose 3 pink paint colors (Folk Art, from AC Moore)-which I diluted and/or mixed until I got a color I liked. I had 3 plastic cups that I mixed various colors in. Then I dunked each filter in a color, squeezed it out, and hung it up to dry. I’d add brown or more pink to change the color of the paint water as I continued dying the filters. For the light creamy ones, I used strong brewed tea. To get a cool natural gradient look you can use a paint brush to dab different colors on the edges of the filter.
Once the filters were dry (which didn’t take as long as I thought it would), I began making the flowers. I followed the above tutorial exactly (which was a new way of making flowers for me!).***Update: My flower making tutorial can be seen here*** Instead of my usual foam wreath form, I decided to try one of the floral wire ones (like these at Save on Crafts).
I wrapped it in strips of burlap (that I had on hand) secured with hot glue, and it worked perfecftly! Bonus: it’s like 1/4 the price of the same size styrofoam wreath. Then I began gluing the flowers on, clustering some colors in certain areas, but also keeping it a bit random. It didn’t take long for it to really come together and look amazing. I finished it off with a wide green ribbon that I got on clearance at Michael’s. The Dollar Tree is a great place to find ribbon as well.
Right now this beauty is in my booth, but if no one snatches it up I’ll be bringing it home with me!

I love this! Most coffee filter wreaths I’ve seen are too bulky and “tight”. But I love the way this is loose, colorful and fun!

This is gorgeous! I actually like your version much better than the original!! We to have a Keurig (how awesome is it?!) so I’m gonna have to buy coffee filters to make one but I’m thinking it would be so cute in my coming daughter’s nursery in the pinks and grays I’m using! Thanks for sharing!

Rachelle- It’s hard to recall, I used 3 stacks from a bag we had…must have been a large pack. I honestly have never bought coffee filters, so I don’t know what quantities they come in. I’m planning on making another one, and I’ll keep better track and update the post. Sorry!

I’m in the process of making it right now, and the colors aren’t coming out as strong as yours did. They all come out very light. I keep adding paint but it’s not making much of a difference. How did you get them to dye so well? Thanks for the help in advance! =)
April- What colors are you using (definitely use saturated colors, not pastel)? I used quite a bit of paint and not much water to get dark colors. I also like to paint them on a stack of newspaper versus dunk them. Next week I’ll be posting pictures of my method, but for now I’d try adding less water and possible trying food colors instead. Hope that helps!
This is gorgeous and these are my wedding colors…. Would be a great centerpiece on a smaller scale with a large candle in the center!! Just wish I could duplicate the colors perfectly!

This looks beautiful! I was amazed at how easy it was to make the flowers (did a trial one without painting it. I went full scale and was going to make two wreaths (one for my mom & one for my mother-in-law). Holy crap! These took forever to dry (I now see that you did say 30 minutes each). They take quite a while to make each individual flower too. Kudos to you! I’m half way done with my first one after spending most of Sunday painting & starting the process.

Absolutely stunning! I would love to make one. I bought a Costco sized package of coffee filters ages ago just to make something like this…hope I can pull it off!
I made this and it is so beautiful! I have gotten a ton of positive feed back! And I do a lot of wreaths with yarn and such and I use pool noodles!! I cut them, hot glue the ends together and while I’m holding it together for the glue to dry my hubby duct tapes the crap out of it in that area! Works great and noodles are only a dollar at the dollar tree!!
Could you also get the scented oil and make this wreath a scented wreath or does that change how the filters absorb the color?

Hi I was just wondering why the wire form instead of the foam and if it made any difference? Both are cheap but I don’t have burlap available and don’t know how pricey it would be?

Nancy- You could use any wreath form you like. The wires ones were just a lot cheaper in the large size here, and I hoard burlap like it’s going out of style

Mary- I would love to share, but I basically mixed all the colors from some pinks, reds, and browns…nothing straight from the bottles. That’s my favorite way
Peachy pinks and taupe-y pinks are what I started with I think, then I added more red or brown to create different shades. All of the colors are the little $1-$2 bottles from the craft store.
Started mine yesterday, the flowers are a little time consuming but worth it! Mine is a variety of purple hues, I started really light in color (once the color dries its a lot lighter than the color in the bowl you mix). I’m super excited to finish it! Thank you for inspiring me!

Finished mine today, took about 19 hrs from painting to the bow. I used a pool noodle that I cut length wise then in half. Urs is amazing and mines ok looking lol. Is there an easier way to make the flowers that u don’t have to cut? And I had issues hot gluing the flowers to the wreath, they didn’t want to stay in place, any tips?
Jennie- I’m not sure of another way to make the flowers (generally I’m pretty bad at paper crafts…I have to really love it to try it haha). What kind of colors did you use? I think making flowers in natural colors helps with the realistic factor. Sometimes I find that hot glue doesn’t do well with styrofoam/foam…did you try a high temp gun?

I’m sorry, I can’t remember the exact colors but I used a few pinks/corals and added brown and red in to make unlimited shades!
