Now You See It, Now You Don’t February 27, 2013 DIY, Home Decor, Our House, Sewing 6 Comments 4560 Part of blogging about your own home is that things are constantly changing. Furniture is rearranged, walls are painted and re-painted until finally something clicks and ends up in the “permanent” category. Take my dining room for example…it’s gone through SO many changes. Here are some flashbacks. I finally got the chairs and hutch looking acceptable, but there was always a problem of hiding the printer (which for wiring reasons basically had to be in the dining room or in the basement…and I’m too lazy to go down to the basement). I thought it would fit inside the bottom of the hutch, but it just a little too deep for the cabinet. UGH. So it sat on the floor in the corner to the left, which I conveniently try to leave out of photos. But I finally think I’ve found a corner arrangement that both hides the printer and looks nice 🙂 It’s an old sewing table that I refinished, which makes a nicer stand for my plant and gives the plate arrangement some company. Then I bought a piece of lace-ish fabric at Joann’s, hemmed the bottom, and stapled it in pleats to the underside of the table. I’m pretty sure you could guess what’s underneath… Finally, no more printer in my shots! What do you think? Have you ever used a table skirt before? 6 Responses Julie February 27, 2013 Oh my gosh, I totally would have vetoed the idea of the skirt under a table like that in theory, but in reality it is totally cute! Not too… well, for lack of a better descriptor, too much. It’s really nice, and a great way to hide those random electronics (mine’s the wifi!). Love it! Reply Amy Evans February 27, 2013 I love a good table skirt. I have one in my crafty room that hides the kitty litter box under a bar height work table. As far as I am concerned, table skirts are way under-rated. Applying “Beyonce” logic here seems appropriate: “If you like it then you’d better put a skirt on it! OH-OH-OH OH-OH-Uh-OH!” Reply Tamara February 28, 2013 I really like what you’ve done with the table skirt/printer! It gets the plant up off the floor as well. Nice job! You’ve given me a few ideas for our dining room now:-) Reply Marilyn March 1, 2013 Lovin’ all your updates…great idea to skirt a table to hide your printer! 🙂 Reply denise@victory rd. March 2, 2013 I really appreciate this post. Today I’m feeling a bit discouraged with the progress of our home of one year. There is so much unfinished. finishing is YEARS off. seeing that your dining room has been in progress for a few years is exactly what I needed to see today. it gave me permission to let things evolve slowly. thank you. Reply eeg art March 4, 2014 Hey there! I could have sworn I’ve been to this blog before but after checking through some of the post I realized it’s new to me. Anyways, I’m definitely delighted I found it and I’ll be bookmarking and checking back frequently!
