Update: Growing Your Own Sweet Potato Vine September 2, 2014 DIY, Eco Friendly Projects, Outdoors and Gardening Tutorials 10038 When we last left off, I had some sprouting sweet potatoes in mason jars with water. Well a couple of weeks later, there has been a lot of growth! I’m not sure how long you’re supposed to wait after roots develop to plant, but I figured the sooner the better, right? I put one of the sweet potatoes about 3/4 deep into one of my planters. The leaves have opened up, and it seems happy so far. The other potato went into my window box. Now hopefully I can keep these guys growing with regular watering and plant food. I can’t wait until they are filling up my planters!!
