Guest Room: Bed Redeaux January 23, 2014 Home Decor, Our House, Thrift Store Finds 6 Comments 7417 The guest room is rapidly approaching “most re-worked room in the house” status. It’s been re-painted and made over so many times at this point, it’s hard to keep track. The longest I left it alone was probably when my brother was occupying it for a couple of years. I think because it’s not regularly occupied, it’s easier for me to experiment in it. It’s also upstairs, which means that it’s rarely seen by the public in any transitional state. Last time I posted about it, I believe I had finally achieved the perfect pallet-esque hue on the plank wall I installed last year. But then I was stuck with a matching headboard wall situation that left me underwhelmed. So I left the room like that for awhile until I could find a new headboard. I decided I wanted it to be metal, or to have the appearance of being metal so as not to perpetuate the wood on wood look beyond the plank walls and crate nightstand (hey, no one likes too much of a good thing). I’ve been cruising my local haunts pretty regularly, but nothing stood out to me. A lot of times you see the same thing over and over again, does that ever happen to you? Like everyone must have bought the same trendy beds in the 70s, and now they’re all being donated. In any case, I was at an estate sale clearance event when I spotted a shiny brass headboard standing out from the pile of standard wood versions. Cue the angels singing! It was marked $40, but I knew if I waited another day the discount would be even more. I took a chance leaving it there overnight, and it paid off! $20 later I had this beauty home. When I first got it, I thought I might ended up painting it, but once I put it in the room I totally fell in love with the ridiculously bright sheen. Plus, I noticed it picks up the brass in the frame above the bed, which also almost got painted (geez, I need an intervention). I was worried I had too many shades of metal in one place, but I kinda dig it. I’m no stranger to mixing metallics, but honestly brass is a rarity in my house. It’s never too late to try something new! What do you think? It really changes the look of the room, doesn’t it? 6 Responses Janet January 23, 2014 Oh the brass really pops on that wall! It looked good before, it looks great now! Reply Mary Fran January 23, 2014 I really like how the brass stands out against the wall. I would never have thought to do that. I have only 1 or 2 lamps that are brass…it’s really not my color…but this looks fab! Great job! Reply Mandy January 24, 2014 It looks great!! Reply Rachael Evans January 24, 2014 Thank you!
