My Favorite Things! June 11, 2014 DIY, Products I Heart 1 Comment 9356 I get asked a lot about what products I like to use, so I thought I’d put together a little list for you of some of my favorite things! If there is anything you’re curious about that’s not on the list, let me know in the comments! Paint Brush: Wooster Short Cut I use this little guy for everything – the short handle gives me great control for trim, and the bristles leave a smooth finish for furniture. The price is right on point at $5.50. I get many uses out of it if I clean it properly- but at the same I don’t feel bad about tossing it and getting a new one. {Wooster Shortcut at Home Depot} Interior Paint: Behr Ultra Paint + Primer I can’t say enough good things about this paint. It’s all over my house (specifically Burnished Clay), and I love love love it. The coverage is awesome, and I never have to do more than two coats. Furniture Paint: Sherwin Williams sample quarts This is the best deal in town, no question. For about $6 you can get a sample of any color (even color matched). The paint comes in a satin finish only, but that’s perfect for furniture. Every painted piece in my house has been done with these sample quarts. It holds up beautifully and distresses well. I know some people rave about chalk paint, but this is still my favorite. If you prefer a more matte finish or like using chalk paint, you can use plaster of paris or unsanded grout to mix your own (check out Pinterest for recipes). Wood Stain: Minwax Dark Walnut/Old Masters American Walnut (Gel Stain) Minwax Dark Walnut graces roughly 650 sq feet in my house…on the floors! I also use it on the tops of furniture with painted legs like my kitchen table, coffee table, and foyer buffet. I used Old Masters for my front door and shutters. It’s great for vertical surfaces (no drips) and imperfect surfaces because it hides a multitude of sins! That’s a quick wrap up of my main squeezes, but I hope it’s helpful in getting you started with a project! One Response Diane June 11, 2014 I love my Wooster Shortcut! I use for all my painting inthe house and outdoors! I’ve tried to go back to a “regular” brush, but it just doesn’t compare to the Shortcut! !
